GWAR è una band statunitense di heavy metal e shock-rock nata a Richmond, in Virginia, nota per unire il thrash metal, il punk, i costumi teatrali, la mitologia fantascientifica, l'umorismo grottesco e le elaborate produzioni sceniche. Nata negli anni '80 da un gruppo di musicisti, artisti e filmmaker, la band ha guadagnato una folta seguito grazie agli album Scumdogs of the Universe, America Must Be Destroyed, This Toilet Earth, Violence Has Arrived, Beyond Hell e The New Dark Ages. Tra le sue canzoni più famose ci sono "Sick of You", "Saddam a Go-Go", "The Salaminizer", "The Road Behind", "Gor-Gor" e "Bring Back the Bomb". Dopo la morte del lungo tempo frontman Dave Brockie, che interpretava Oderus Urungus, il bassista Michael Bishop è tornato come vocalist principale sotto il personaggio Blothar the Berserker, continuando così la combinazione di GWAR tra musica pesante, satira e spettacolo teatrale.
