Ms. Lauryn Hill is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, producer, and former member of the Fugees whose fusion of hip-hop, soul, R&B, reggae, and gospel made her one of the defining artists of her generation. With the Fugees, she helped turn the 1996 album The Score into a global breakthrough through recordings including “Killing Me Softly,” “Ready or Not,” and “Fu-Gee-La.” Her 1998 solo debut The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill produced “Doo Wop (That Thing),” “Ex-Factor,” “Everything Is Everything,” “Lost Ones,” and “To Zion,” topped the Billboard 200, and earned five Grammy Awards in a single ceremony, including Album of the Year and Best New Artist.
