The Dickies are a Los Angeles punk rock band formed in the San Fernando Valley in 1977, known for pairing rapid-fire guitars and pop melodies with irreverent humor and campy stagecraft. They became the first Los Angeles punk band to secure a major-label deal when they signed with A&M Records in 1978. Their catalog includes the albums The Incredible Shrinking Dickies and Dawn of the Dickies, the UK hit “Banana Splits,” and “Killer Klowns,” the theme from Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Their fast, playful reinterpretations of rock and pop songs helped establish them as enduring pioneers of melodic punk and pop-punk.
